Our Story
The South of Scotland Youth Awards scheme was established in 1991 by Gerard Henry who lived near Langholm, Scottish Borders. It achieved charitable status in 1999 under the chairmanship of Sir Christopher Collett.
Sir Christopher Collett lived in Langholm for many years . He was the second son of Sir Charles Collett Bt who was Lord Mayor of London between 1933 and 1934 before himself becoming Lord Mayor of London in 1989.
The Lord Mayor's 800th Anniversary Awards Trust works alongside the SSYAT donors and trustees, helping young people with their respective projects and expeditions. The Trustees would greatly appreciate further funding to secure the future work of the Trust.
